Nikki’s personal experience with a gynaecological cancer diagnosis motivated her to support Cherish and later join the Board of Directors. Following the diagnosis of cervical cancer at the age of 28 gave her firsthand insight into the importance of research, awareness, and support for women facing these challenges. After successful radical surgery by Professor Andreas Obermair, she was strongly compelled to give back and support other women and families navigating similar journeys.

“Cherish’s commitment to gynaecological cancer research and to improving outcomes for women is something I am deeply passionate about. I bring passion, commitment, and strong community involvement. I am a very active and organised person who enjoys balancing family life, volunteering, and supporting community initiatives. I currently support my children’s sporting activities and volunteer to coach and manage their teams, which has strengthened my teamwork, communication, and leadership skills. I am also heavily involved in fundraising and community engagement, and I understand the importance of building strong relationships and working collaboratively towards shared goals. I believe my personal connection to Cherish, combined with my energy and willingness to contribute, enables me to bring empathy, dedication, and a genuine desire to make a difference”.

“Women’s cancer research is deeply personal to me because I understand firsthand how life-changing a diagnosis can be — not only for the individual but also for their family. Ongoing research leads to earlier detection, better treatments, improved survival rates, and ultimately hope for women and families affected by gynaecological cancers. Supporting research also ensures that future generations of women have access to better care and outcomes. Being part of an organisation that actively contributes to this progress is incredibly meaningful to me”. Nikki has been an active member of the Cherish board since 2017 and has participated in four Cherish Challenge Treks, including the Everest Base Camp Trek in 2019. Gaining a strong understanding of Cherish over the years, Nikki has developed a strong understanding of the organisation’s mission, fundraising initiatives, and the meaningful impact Cherish has in gynaecological cancer research. Ongoing involvement has strengthened her commitment to the foundation and its future growth.
