Prof Andreas Obermair is the Director of Research at the Queensland Centre for Gynaecological Cancer. Andreas founded Cherish Women’s Cancer Foundation in 2012. He currently practices as a Gynaecological Oncologist in Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast and also founded SurgicalPerformance.com which is a confidential platform for surgeons who want to understand their outcomes, learn from feedback, and continuously improve.

Andreas is recognised among the world’s leading gynaecological cancer researchers, ranking within the top ten globally for research output. He has led landmark international clinical trials, including LACE, LACC and feMMe, that have transformed the treatment of women with endometrial and cervical cancer worldwide. Andreas has authored more than 300 peer-reviewed publications, reviews and book chapters, with his work cited over 15,000 times by researchers and clinicians internationally.

He supports the growth of Cherish helping secure millions of dollars in philanthropic support an enabling innovative research projects that would otherwise never proceed. As a founder and leader, Andreas has built sustainable research, charitable and healthcare organisations by creating partnerships, developing talent and turning ambitious ideas into measurable impact.

Andreas further contributes to Cherish Women’s Cancer Foundation in 2012 engaging in community fundraising events, educational forums, patient engagement activities and fundraising Treks that directly benefit women with gynaecological cancers across Australia and internationally.

I often challenge accepted clinical practice and generate evidence where uncertainty exists and translate discoveries into real-world care. Through research, education, mentorship and innovation, I make surgery safer, more precise and more equitable, while empowering the next generation of clinicians and researchers to continue advancing women’s cancer care”.
