In September 2023, our inspirational and dedicated team of 10 trekkers took on the ultimate challenge. After months of preparation, training, breaking in new boots, vaccinations, visas, and fundraising, they met in Moshi, Tanzania to prepare for their adventure.
Trekking the Rongai route, the only trail approaching Kilimanjaro from the north, close to the Kenyan boarder, our team marvelled at the scenery and wildlife, camped beneath starry skies and forged life-long friendships with both their fellow trekkers and devoted guides and porters.
Our team consisted of three senior gynaecological oncologists, three gynaecological cancer patients and 6 supporting participants – the youngest being just 11 years old. Together, and with their generous supporters, they raised over $150,000 – all of which will be dedicated to funding vital, life-changing clinical trials and medical research for gynaecological cancer.
