She’s off! Rachel’s on her way to New York City to run a marathon of a lifetime!

October 30, 2025

Rachel Monahan’s story is one of grit, grace, and unwavering determination. Featured earlier this year in our People We Cherish series, Rachel shared her journey from triathlon training to a Stage 3 ovarian cancer diagnosis, and the long road through surgery, chemotherapy, and recovery.

Now, she’s writing a new chapter—one powered by purpose.

In November 2025, Rachel will run the New York Marathon not for a personal best, but to celebrate survival and raise vital funds for ovarian cancer research. After facing recurrence and enduring a second round of chemotherapy, Rachel is now in remission and embracing her “second-chance life” with courage and heart.

Her fundraising campaign has already raised an incredible $12,656 for Cherish, and her community continues to rally behind her—from sausage sizzles and teal morning teas to social media shares and heartfelt donations.

Rachel is now en route to New York City, ready to take on the marathon with one goal: to help more women survive and thrive after cancer.

“I’m not aiming for a PB,” she says. “I’m doing this for Cherish. Every dollar we raise together will go to research.”
